In collaboration with NIAJIRI, KIWOHEDE conducted a targeted training for adolescents and youth with Vocational Education and Training (VET) skills focusing on work readiness and employability skills.
Objective
The main objective of this training was to equip VET graduates with the soft skills, workplace knowledge, and employability competencies required to successfully transition from technical training to the labor market or self-employment.
Training Focus and Content
The training provided participants with practical knowledge and skills, including:
- Communication and interpersonal skills for the workplace
- Teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking
- Workplace ethics and professional behavior
- CV writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation
- Basic entrepreneurship and self-employment readiness
Outcomes and Impact
- Enhanced employability: Youth gained essential soft skills that complement their technical expertise, increasing their chances of securing formal employment.
- Improved workplace readiness: Participants developed confidence to adapt to professional environments and apply their VET skills effectively.
- Entrepreneurship orientation: Youth were equipped with basic knowledge on how to start and manage small-scale income-generating activities.
- Contribution to community development: By strengthening the economic participation of young people, the training supports local economic growth and reduces youth unemployment.
